Brazil development has been stopped. It is now replaced by the link:Visualizer Tools from CausticProfessiona.

Brazil was created by Splutterfish, then it was aquired by Caustic Graphics witch was aquired itself by Imagination. Caustic graphics offerred a raytracing framework based on openRT and brazil core. Developers can implement this framework into any application. Version 3.0 of brazil is announced and is heading in direction of realtime rendering like most other renderers. On the announcement page you can read that Brazil will be implemented into maya as well, so lets see whats happening. From the features and description, it seems that Brazil is aimed to visualisation and industrial desing, but it is used for cinematic effects as well.

Brazil renderer is now dead and burried since several years.
